Greening Barton Group News

The GBG entered the recent Christmas Tree Festival at St Nicholas Church. Our entry was appropriately called “The Really Green Tree”.
The tree itself was locally sourced – from Bedfordshire Tree Nursery . Eye-catching decorations were made from tiers of bottle tops and toilet roll holders – recycling in action. Hand sculptured parsnip angels and delicate ginger bread men replaced traditional synthetic decorations.

Rich colour was provided by strings of crimson bryony berries and decorative leaves – sourced in the countryside around Barton. Delicate hangings created from tiny crab apples , cherry tomatoes , sprouts added the final touch.

The tree impressed the judges and we were awarded first prize in the adult category. Our hard work was rewarded and hopefully it gave our group some publicity.
